Regular Maintenance Schedule

Following the Japanese maintenance standards ensures longevity and reliability

Engine Oil & Filter

Every 5,000 km or 6 months

  • Use 5W-30 or 10W-30 oil (check manual)
  • Capacity: typically 2.5-3.0 liters
  • Replace oil filter with every change
  • Check oil level weekly
Tip: Japanese engines prefer frequent oil changes. Stick to the schedule for longevity.

Air Filter

Every 10,000 km or annually

  • Inspect every oil change
  • Clean with compressed air if dusty
  • Replace if damaged or excessively dirty
  • More frequent in dusty conditions
Warning: Clogged air filter reduces fuel economy and power significantly in small engines.

Transmission Fluid

Every 40,000 km or 2 years

  • Manual: 75W-90 or 80W-90 gear oil
  • Automatic: ATF specified in manual
  • Check level monthly
  • Look for metal particles or burnt smell
Tip: KEI truck transmissions work hard. Don't skip this service.

Coolant System

Every 2 years

  • Use long-life coolant (LLC)
  • 50/50 mix with distilled water
  • Check level weekly when cold
  • Inspect hoses for cracks
Warning: Small engines overheat quickly. Never run low on coolant.

Brake System

Inspect every 10,000 km

  • Check pad thickness (min 3mm)
  • Brake fluid every 2 years
  • Adjust rear drums if equipped
  • Check for even wear
Tip: KEI trucks have small brakes. Keep them in top condition for safety.

Spark Plugs

Every 20,000 km

  • Use OEM specification plugs
  • Check gap before installation
  • Replace all plugs together
  • Inspect for oil or carbon buildup
Tip: Quality plugs make a big difference in small engines.
